Santa Fe Plaza = Turquoise Jewelry!

Day 8 -- August 6, 2021

At 5 o'clock this morning the temperature outside is 56, and it is 70 inside the motorhome.

During our search yesterday for the next RV park in The Enchanted Circle, we do find space coming available at Angel Nest RV Retreat just south of Eagle Nest NM.  The attendant tells us that 'David' will vacate next Sunday, so we can have that site, which has a spectacular view of the mountains.  We make the reservation, and this being Thursday, we will stay two more days at the beautiful Santa Fe Skies RV Park.

We are happy to learn a little of Santa Fe's history:

"Santa Fe, New Mexico's capital, sits in the Sangre de Cristo foothills.  It's renowned for its Pueblo-style architecture, and as a creative arts hotbed.  Founded as a Spanish colony in 1610, it has at its heart the traditinal Plaza.  The surrounding historic district's crooked streets wind past adobe landmarks like the Palace of Governors, now home to the New Mexico History Museum."

We remember that we visited the Plaza years ago. Located in the center of the downtown shopping district, it's a place to get away from the crowds on San Francisco St. and Old Santa Fe Trail.  We also remember that we bought some Indian jewelry, and think today is a great day to visit the Plaza.

Parking is a challenge, but we drive quite a ways until we find the lucky spot, then a nice long walk back to the Plaza wearing our masks and carrying our camelbaks full of cold water.   I am too excited about shopping that I forget to take any photos.

I am pleased to find a pair of turquoise earrings, and a cross necklace with a turquoise stone inset.

As we leave to walk back to the car, we pass by The Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi.  The cathedral is a Roman Catholic cathedral in downtown Santa Fe and the mother church of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe.
