Day 15 -- August 13, 2021
It's 49 degrees and the high will be only 66! Is it time to go south? It is quite breezy, as well, so we don't take a long morning walk, but opt to do projects around the house. Herb's main objective today is setting up the in-motion TV satellite dish.
No! We won't watch TV driving down the highway, but it is now available for any kids to watch on the TV in the bedroom.
No, we don't have any children with us. Not even a puppy dog!
We had seen a food truck near the entrance of our street, Marina Way, and facing the main highway, US 64, which is open only Fridays and Saturdays for breakfast and lunch.
Always interested in different places for lunch, we walk along the back path behind Sweet Georgia Brown to place our order, and are surprised (and delighted) to see that someone who lives in the cabins behind the RV park raises chickens. To keep the birds from escaping, the owner has not only a fence around the area, but wire netting for a roof. The rooster crows at us, and the hens just run around and stare at us. Over to one side one hen is sittng on the ground flapping her wings and creating a bit of dust in the chicken yard. We think she may be protecting her nest of eggs.
Later in the afternoon, I take another walk up that back path after the food truck has closed for the day, and I see the owner, Stacy, who gets up from his easy chair to thank me for coming for lunch. He asks how the food was, and I tell him it was delicious, and we even have leftovers. Herb and I chose his menu item, Triple P, which is pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon, choice of pinto beans or pork n beans, with a side of potatoes.
While I am talking with Stacy, I hear a strange sound, turn to see a marmot standing by his underground home. Wow! It is my first time to see one here, since they dart away so quickly, but I get a lucky shot!
