Celebration -- 7/4/2014

Happy Birthday to our country!

From the Boyd cabin on Lake Wenatchee!

It is a time when all the working people enjoy a holiday weekend, doing nothing, or doing something.  One activity we see is the crafts circle, making arrows for the decor of guest rooms at the Bavarian Lodge back in Leavenworth.

Janeane designs them and delegates the cutting, gluing and added touch of the coordinated brightly colored windings on the shank.  I love her choices of fabric -- each representing a different scenario imagined.

A Work in Progress

Back in the winter we heard about the severe snow storm raging through the state, and unfortunately, many tall stately trees around the lake were struck down.  Lyman and David use the peavey to grab a log from the shore around the bend, and walk it to a holding area on the beach at the opposite side of the cabin.

Almost There, Now

The four cedar logs are now in place, waiting for the Boyd sons, Jesse and Taylor, to carve them into canoes.

Good Job

Boomer and Dr. Jake get to play stick again today, swimming in 55-ish degree water and loving it.  In the photo below Boomer catches and Jake does not try to take it away.

The rules are -- well, there are no rules.  Each dog gets his share of fetching many times, and we see a lot of resting and sleeping after the exercise.

Boomer gets the stick!

Dinner is served.

Can you imagine even with all the activity, it still is a very relaxing day?  Day is done and all find something interesting on the laptops.
