Ah, Ladysmith!

This morning we discover that our generator will not run, so we are really camping -- we use the camp percolator on the propane burner for coffee, and it actually heats the cabin very nicely.

Herb diagnoses the problem and orders a replacement impeller.

We have a short trip today to Ladysmith on Vancouver Island, a favorite harbour for Herb and me.

Destiny leads out, followed by Moondance.

Chermainus is a beautiful town just south of Ladysmith, and we plan to visit there some day.

We arrive and everyone helps with the lines.

Remembering the lo-o-ng walk from the marina up the hill to town, I opt for the shuttle ride.  It comes every two hours to the street above the ramp.  $1 per person.

We provision at the 49th Parallel Grocery, then accept a ride back to the marina aboard the store's courtesy van -- driven by a manager!  What hospitality!

Find Willie's Tug, Moondance, and Destiny..........

We explore the new community room, which has free up to date showers, laundry facilities, a cookout area and reading room.  Mark, the manager, now has a spacious office here, as well.

The profit from the Ladysmith Maritime Society marina benefits the Martin bird population restoration, and we are told that at 4 AM tomorrow, we will hear the birds singing as they begin their day.  We see many Martin houses.

And now it is Happy Hour on Destiny's upper deck.  Vicki comes up the stairs with her refreshment.
