Since taking delivery of the R-31 Willie’s Tug, we have had
a problem with the water pump running more often than it seems it should. I recall lying awake one night making notes
on the times it ran.
A call to the factory resulted in a visit from various technicians to
troubleshoot the source of a possible water leak.
We found several leaks and fixed them, but the pump continues to run when we are not using water.
Today seems like a good day for Herb to further diagnose the
situation and he starts at one end of the boat and goes to the other. Pink stuff – antifreeze used to winterize –
is found behind the toilet in the cave and appears to come from a loose fitting. He fetches a roll of
Teflon tape to secure the connection. The leak is stopped, but the pump problem is not.
He crawls forward in the cave to inspect the shower
connections. Nothing is amiss.
The access to the water heater may tell us something, so
next he opens that tiny compartment and goes in backward head first. Then again forward head first.
OK,
a technician from the factory has permission to come aboard!
