It's up the country today and we take Chuckanut Drive in reverse, hugging the coast of Padilla Bay before coming to Samish Bay. There are plenty of maps around the area to keep you oriented. Lunch is in Edison and we opt for the recommended Italian wedding soup and chicken and bacon Ranch Burger.
As much as we like The Market grocery store in Anacortes, we make a visit today to Bellingham to see what Trader Joe's is all about. No dining room! But we find a wealth of meats, vegetables, specialty items and packaged foods that we cannot resist.
And did I mention the wine section? We make about three passes around the store just to be sure we haven't missed anything, and wish we had brought the second ice chest.
Upon returning home, Jake's neighbor buddy (we still don't know his name) gives us our entertainment for the evening. His human takes him to the park every day, and he is so excited that he announces to the world -- every day -- "I'm going to the park! I'm going to the park!"
