Day 3 - Sunday July 17, 2022
Clear Creek Campground, Texarkana TX
With the temperature at a pleasant 78 degrees, we are happy to enjoy our morning coffee outside on the deck in our rocking chairs.
I think of Neil Sperry as we walk along the main road into the campground, because the most interesting things I see are trees and leaves, some of which appear to be unhealthy, as evidenced by the spots on the leaves. I wonder what Neil would diagnose on the first three photos.

Each day we take a different path for our morning walk, and today we find two trails that need exploring - Charles Gardner Trail, which is half a mile long, with moderate difficulty, and which promises you will see birds and maybe some other creatures. The newest trail is the Karl Keck Nature Trail, which is still being improved. Among other things, Keck at one time worked for the Corps of Engineers.
But the best sightings are the deer! We stop dead still so as not to scare him off, and I use my zoom lens to capture him. But wait! Here are more! They are not scared of us, but watch us closely, and then begin to feed again. Beautiful animals.
While we have no television because StarLink isn't working, we are happy to see others' antennas. Herb decides to install our 'over the air' antenna, which will at least give us local channels for news and weather of the area. I don't understand all the wires he connects, but here in this wilderness of the Corp of Engineers park, we do get some channels. When the installation is complete, he stows the wires in the compartment and closes the door. So we watch one of our favorites, "King of the Hill," and laugh a lot.
As we vacate our site the next morning, we are met on the road by the park host, who asks us if we enjoyed our stay. I told her we think the park is very scenic, with the sites layed out in tiers, and that we would love to return another time.
