Day 1 - Friday, July 15, 2022
Livingston, Texas to Clear Creek Campground, Wright Patman Lake
Destination is Boston to visit our daughter Patrice and husband Neel, and then who knows where from there. Maine?
After Sweet Georgia Brown has left her canopy at Rainbow's End in Livingston and we hook up the Jeep behind, Herb puts the Privacy cable across our lot. Our neighbor Anthony had told us that when we have been gone, people unknowingly wander over into our area, thinking it is part of the RV Park. This banner will let them know.
Herb can be seen in the center of the photo, having stretched the banner from the east corner of our lot at the speed limit sign to the west corner. It will be about three feet off the pavement.
We leave Livingston at 10a, heading north on Texas 59, but around 11:30 the oppressive Texas summer heat is too much for the dash air conditioner, and Herb turns on the generator to run the house AC. Much relief!
Our route takes us onto Hwy 315 through Carthage, where we stop for lunch. Patrice is tracking our location on the app "Find My" and she emailed that she was aware that we had stopped for a time. (Cool technology.)
Soon back on Hwy 59 continuing north instead of veering west through Avinger, where we owned a blueberry farm many years ago.
We go through Marshall and when we get to Atlanta TX, we begin to see some billboards that we owned several years ago, and notice that the new owner has kept the Stark name. A few are rented to customers, but others advertise the sign is available to rent.
We travel through some smaller towns, then turn into the scenic Core of Engineers campground, Clear Creek, at 3:24p.
The beauty of the wooded area overcomes the disappointment of the StarLink not seeing the satellite, so we use hot spots for Internet, and only for necessary communication.
Sweet Georgia Brown is home.
