StarLink Can't see through the Trees

 Day 2 - Saturday, July 16, 2022

Clear Springs Campground, Texarkana, TX

The temperature is a pleasant 75 degrees on our morning walk.  But the walk begins with a few steps here, and a few steps there, searching for where StarLink points.

Herb uses his iPhone compass to find the direction, which turns out to be North. Then he looks to see if there is any possible area in the trees where StarLink could see the satellite.

Maybe, maybe not, so we take our walk and explore the area in the campground.  As we head out, we pass an area with a nice view of Wright Patman Lake, where a pontoon boat is moored and a small boat passes by.

On our way back we come upon a sign that warns vehicles of the 20 mph speed limit, and that the road ends in water 400 feet ahead.  The sign is in the shadows by the iron railing.

Yes, it really does end in 400 feet, because it is the boat ramp, where we see a boat cruising by, and a sign cautioning about varying levels of water.

Nearby are cabins to rent, but one has seen better days.  It is totally destroyed, and we suspect that a pretty bad storm came through.  We hope no one was in it at the time.

Later in the morning we drive into nearby Texarkana for provisions and lunch.  Under partly cloudy skies, the temperature climbs to 99, so we take advantage of Sweet Georgia Brown's air conditioning for the rest of the afternoon.

Herb uses the time to plot our next destination, and his first waypoint is West Memphis AR.  There will be intermittent stops between B and C.
