Watching this morning for Stuart, I grab a photo of him and his traveling companion leaving Sitka in Ripple, sailing back to the Lower 48.
Errands and chores are first today with a few days' worth of laundry to do, then happily we pick up from the harbor office a package from Seattle with a ton of water-maker filters! Who knew we would make (and use) so much water on the cruise north and almost run out of filters? That is how we came to pay $$$ for postage.
Lunch is at a Mexican restaurant, and the food is so delicious that Herb comments how far north he had to come to get great Mexican food like we get in the Rio Grande Valley!
The SPOT tracking device sends our location to family members, even when we dont have Internet or cell service, so they know we are OK. Those not familiar with the geography can zoom in or out to see the juxtaposition of our location and put it into perspective. (I once 'sent' the SPOT from the middle of the Strait of Juan DeFuca, south of Vancouver Island, but let them know ahead of time we had not capsized, but are marking the site.) I usually delete the eMail SPOT sends, but this one is special to me -- the ultimate destination of our trip to Alaska.
