Valley of the Snake -- Friday, 9/27/2013 -- Day 140

We begin our day crossing the awesome Columbia River, and enter the beautiful state of Oregon, where we continue on the Old Oregon Trail Highway.

A favorite stop is always the State Rest Areas, and we read the interpretive panels to learn a bit of the history here.  One humorous one tells of folks (ignoramuses) from The Dalles asking about the size of Oregon City, and were told there is much more in the state than that city -- there is Portland!

I cannot describe the views we see.

We are visited by the Snake River many times before we stop in Twin Falls ID for the evening.  An interpretive panel tells the Valley of the Snake is a historic passage from the Midwest to the Northwest, and has been a primary route for travel since the days of Indian and fur traders.
