Discovering Port McNeill -- 8/6/2014

Port McNeill on the northeast coast of Vancouver Island, yet south of Port Hardy, is a destination I never dreamed early in the Spring that I would visit.  We are here!

This is not just a marina, it is a real town with two marinas, two grocery stores, a bank, auto parts store, liquor store, laundry, gift shops and more!  The laundry interests me today to get everything fresh again.  Then more fun is the IGA supermarket where we stock up for the next few days.

The municipal marina has tugboats and commercial fishing boats and there is always someone coming and going.  A very busy place.

Mike and Chris come over for dinner and Charlie finds his 'bed' in the master berth.  He and Dr. Jake get along fine.  Jake relaxes in the cockpit and Charlie sits between whomever he chooses until he wants peace and quiet in solitude.

Dinner is Herb's excellent shrimp pasta with avocado salad; dessert is Popsicles, which they graciously eat.  Then over the captains' meeting we bring out the real dessert -- Mike's favorite -- Oreo cookies!  This gets a laugh.
